Preserving the Character of a 220 Year Old Home
Custom Window Solutions for a Centuries-Old Virginia Home
We’re currently partnering with Racer Construction on a renovation and addition to a historic 220-year-old home in Sperryville, Virginia. The project expands the home while staying true to its original character. The main floor is receiving a full update, including a new kitchen, bedroom, and seating area, along with new square footage that ties into past additions made over the years.
Matching Existing Windows
When the builder first reached out, our team visited the home to review what was already in place. The original structure had Andersen 400 Series windows, so our goal was to stay consistent with the existing look while adjusting sizing for the updated rooms. We were especially focused on the main elevation, where window placement and proportions were key to capturing the best views and maintaining the exterior balance of the home.
Precision in Challenging Spaces
One of the more challenging aspects of the project was the entryway. Beams extended from the interior out to the porch roof, leaving little room to work with. We had to fit the new windows within those tight boundaries, follow the roof pitch, and ensure all angles aligned correctly. The finished entryway came together smoothly and we’re proud to deliver this key feature to the homeowners.
A Strong Working Relationship
Racer Construction has been a valued partner, and we appreciate the trust they continue to place in our team. Building strong working relationships with builders is an important part of what we do, and we look forward to working together with Racer Construction on future projects.
