Local Roots Since 2004
Dale and Dena Rodgers launched Padgett Window and Door on March 1, 2004, after purchasing the window division of Padgett Manufacturing. Dale’s experience with the business went back to 1990, and the idea for a dedicated window and door showroom began taking shape around 1991. Today, PWD Home builds on more than two decades of service under the company’s ownership, with roots in the local window and door industry that reach back even further.
From Window and Door Expertise to Whole-Home Service
Dale began working as a draftsman and designer in Padgett Manufacturing’s millwork department in 1990. After years of helping grow its window and door business, Dale and Dena purchased that division and opened Padgett Window and Door in 2004. The company initially focused on supplying builders, architects, and designers with quality windows and doors. It later expanded its installation and service capabilities as more homeowners turned to the team.
A Name That Reflects Everything We Do
In 2025, Padgett Window and Door rebranded as PWD Home. As the company grew beyond windows and doors into broader construction and remodeling services, the original name no longer represented everything the team could do. PWD Home brings those services together under one clear identity while preserving the PWD name that local customers have long associated with quality products, dependable work, and responsive service.
Two Generations, One Commitment
Yes. Dale and Dena Rodgers launched the company in 2004, and their son Bryce grew up working in the warehouse, on deliveries, and with installation crews. After building a career in the music industry, Bryce returned to Harrisonburg and joined the company full time, first serving as a project manager as PWD Home’s construction work expanded. Today, the business is moving into its second generation with the same commitment to integrity, care, and doing the right thing.
Good Products, Good People, Dependable Service
From the beginning, the company’s approach has been straightforward: offer good products, work with good people, and service what it sells. PWD Home developed an unusually responsive service program early in its history and continues to keep a service technician on staff. That accountability, along with long-standing relationships with customers, team members, builders, architects, and manufacturers, has remained central as the company has grown.
Start With Your Goals
Start by sharing what you want to improve, the location of the project, and any priorities you already have for style, function, timing, or budget. Our team will help determine the right next step, which may include a showroom conversation, a site visit, measurements, or a more detailed design process.
From Site Visit to 3D Design
We begin with a site visit to understand your home, your goals, and how you want to use the space. Depending on the project, we may create 3D drawings and design concepts, then refine the layout, materials, and features with you before construction begins.
The Details Make the Space Feel Complete
The finishing details affect how a completed space looks, functions, and feels. Our team pays close attention to final trim, transitions, hardware, alignment, touch-ups, and inspections so the completed project feels polished and performs as intended.
One Team Keeping the Project Organized
For larger remodeling projects, our team manages the project schedule, required permits, and coordination with trusted subcontractors and vendors. We keep each step aligned with the approved plan and communicate with you as the work moves forward.
Plans Evolve, and We’re Here to Guide You
Yes. If you want to add or change something after construction begins, talk to your project manager as early as possible. We will explain how the requested change could affect materials, cost, and timing, then document the approved adjustment so the project can keep moving with clear expectations.
Built to Last, Built to Code
Framing and structural systems support the safety and long-term performance of your home. Current code requirements help protect your household, reduce the risk of costly issues later, and preserve the value of your investment. We pair technical requirements with a clear explanation of what they mean for your home.
An Estimate Based on Your Home and Goals
Cost depends on the project scope, existing conditions, materials, product selections, and level of customization. After we understand your goals and evaluate the space, we can prepare an estimate based on the work your home actually needs.
A Clear Schedule Before Work Begins
Timing depends on design decisions, product lead times, permits, site conditions, and the size of the project. We will outline the expected schedule before work begins and keep you informed if an approved change or unexpected condition affects the plan.
Where Resale Value Starts
A new front door is often one of the home upgrades associated with a strong return at resale. It also shapes how a home is perceived from the moment a buyer walks up. The right door comes down to style, finish, performance, and how it fits the rest of your home. Visit our Harrisonburg showroom to explore options, or send us a picture of a door you have in mind.
Improve Daily Life First
The effect on resale value depends on the project, the quality of the work, the condition of the home, and what local buyers value. Improvements that make a home feel well maintained, move-in ready, comfortable, and cohesive can strengthen its appeal. We recommend choosing updates that improve your daily life first, with potential resale value as an added benefit.
