Comfort Meets Historic Charm in Edinburg, Virginia

We're currently leading a full renovation of an older home in Edinburg, Virginia, where our goal is modernizing the layout, improving energy efficiency, and updating key finishes throughout the interior. Though the project is still underway, several major upgrades are already in place, from structural changes to new window installations.

Opening the Floor Plan for Modern Living

One of the biggest transformations in this project involved reworking the layout. To achieve a more modern floor plan, two interior walls were removed, including a load-bearing wall. Our team installed a double 18-inch LVL beam to safely carry the load of the floor and roof systems above, allowing us to open up the space without compromising structural integrity.

Crafting Seamless Hardwood Flooring

Throughout the home, we’re installing new 2¼-inch red oak hardwood flooring and blending it with the existing floors. After sanding and staining, the new and old materials will match seamlessly. The staircase is also being restored to its original hardwood condition, replacing old carpet and preserving the home’s historic look.

Upgrading Windows for Efficiency and Natural Light

New ProVia windows have been installed throughout the home. These high-efficiency units improve insulation while allowing more natural light into each room—an essential component of the homeowner’s vision for a more open and updated feel.

Preparing the Walls for a Fresh New Look

In the primary bedroom, original wood paneling was removed to prepare for a more modern, finished interior. The walls are being sanded and skim-coated to eliminate old adhesive and create a smooth surface for paint or additional finishes.

The Final One Percent Matters

While the renovation is still in progress, our approach is always driven by detail. As Project Manager Jeremy Sauder explains, it’s the final 1% of a project that makes the biggest impact. Finishing strong, whether it’s trim work, clean transitions, or final walk-throughs, is what sets the work apart. At PWD, "good enough" isn’t good enough. Every project is taken as close to perfect as possible.
