A Porch Designed for Year-Round Comfort

PWD Home is in the process of transforming an existing porch into a versatile, year-round living space. The goal is simple but impactful: to provide a comfortable, functional area where homeowners can enjoy the outdoors no matter the season. In the summer, operable windows let in fresh air and create a breezy, open feel, while in the colder months the space can be fully enclosed to retain warmth. Every detail, from window placement to the layout of the walls, has been carefully planned to ensure this porch feels like a natural extension of the home.

Framing and Window Details

Our team removed the existing structural columns and framed new walls to make room for windows and doors. The homeowners wanted functional touches, so the window sills were framed slightly deeper, providing a place to set drinks or plates while spending time in the space.

We installed Andersen 400 Series windows with a wood interior and vinyl-clad exterior. These units include compression jamb liners for a tight seal and long-term performance. Where old posts were removed, we notched and replaced the slate to keep a seamless look.

Exterior and Interior Finishes

On the outside, the siding and trim match the existing Hardie plank, making the addition feel like it was always part of the house. Inside, drywall and trim were finished to match the existing home, creating a clean look throughout the space.

A Porch Built for Comfort

With precise framing, high-quality windows, and thoughtful attention to every interior and exterior finish, PWD Home is crafting a porch that combines practicality and style. Homeowners will enjoy a space that flows seamlessly with the rest of their home, whether they’re soaking in the summer sun, or relaxing in the warmth during winter. By turning an ordinary porch into a versatile retreat, this transformation delivers both lasting performance and a space the whole family will love for years to come.
